DJ-BTMU U.S. Business Barometer up by 0.1%
For the week ending March 13, 2010, the DJ-BTMU U.S. Business Barometer experienced a fourth consecutive gain, rising +0.1 percent on top of a slightly downward revised +0.2 percent in the prior week (originally reported as +0.3%). Production components were strong in the latest week but general business activity, as measured by railroad freight carloadings declined and unusually warm weather in the Northeast caused demand for utilities to drop. Looking at March data to-date, economic activity has rebounded strongly from January and February’s growth rates that were depressed due to weather and fading government stimulus.
