ICSC Chain Store Sales up 2.1% in Jun 26 Wk
After two weeks when sales dipped, consumer spending heated up along with the seasonally hot weather. As a result, overall weekly chain store sales for the week ending June 26 increased by a hefty 2.1 percent, according to the ICSC and Goldman Sachs. In addition, year-over-year sales strengthened to 3.0 percent its best showing in three weeks.
“The weekly sales pace accelerated over the latest week with department store business much stronger over the last week, which helped to drive industry sales overall,” said Michael Niemira, ICSC director of research and chief economist. “Given the weekly sales pace ICSC Research continues to expect sales will increase by 3.0 to 4.0 percent overall for June,” Niemira added
