DJ-BTMU U.S. Business Barometer increased 0.1%
For the week ending October 16, 2010, the DJ-BTMU U.S. Business Barometer edged up by +0.1 percent after falling for two consecutive weeks. Despite the better performance in the barometer in the latest week, widespread weakness among the indicators still reigned. The consumption side of the barometer was sharply lower, headlined by a sharp decline in inflation-adjusted chain store sales and a second week of free-falling mortgage applications, while the production side of the barometer was supported by demand for utilities and lumber production.
