Business Inventories virtually unch% in September
The U.S. Census Bureau announced today that the combined value of distributive trade sales and manufacturers’ shipments for September, adjusted for seasonal and trading-day differences but not for price changes, was estimated at $1,209.7 billion, up 0.6 percent (±0.3%) from August 2011 and up 11.6 percent (±0.4%) from September 2010.
Manufacturers’ and trade inventories, adjusted for seasonal variations but not for price changes, were estimated at an end-of-month level of $1,532.5 billion, virtually unchanged (±0.1%) from August 2011 and up 9.0 percent (±0.3%) from September 2010.
The total business inventories/sales ratio based on seasonally adjusted data at the end of September was 1.27. The September 2010 ratio was 1.30.
