Producer Price Index decreased 0.2% in February, ex Fd & Engy up 0.1%
The Producer Price Index for final demand fell 0.2 percent in February, seasonally adjusted, the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics reported today. Final demand prices advanced 0.1 percent in January and declined 0.2 percent in December. On an unadjusted basis, the final demand index was unchanged for the 12 months ended in February.
The decrease in the final demand index in February can be traced to prices for final demand goods, which moved down 0.6 percent. The index for final demand services was unchanged.
The index for final demand less foods, energy, and trade services inched up 0.1 percent in February after increasing 0.2 percent in both January and December. For the 12 months ended in February, prices for final demand less foods, energy, and trade services rose 0.9 percent, the largest 12-month advance since a 0.9-percent increase in July 2015.
