New orders for manufactured goods decreased 0.2% in November
New orders for manufactured goods in November, down three of the last four months, decreased $1.1 billion or 0.2 percent to $472.2 billion, the U.S. Census Bureau reported today. This followed a 1.3 percent October increase.
Shipments, up following four consecutive monthly decreases, increased $1.0 billion or 0.2 percent to $475.3 billion. This followed a 0.7 percent October decrease. Unfilled orders, up two consecutive months, increased $1.9 billion or 0.2 percent to $1,193.9 billion. This followed a 0.3 percent October increase. The unfilled orders-to-shipments ratio was 6.92, down from 6.96 in October.
Inventories, down five consecutive months, decreased $1.7 billion or 0.3 percent to $641.3 billion. This followed a 0.2 percent October decrease. The inventories-to-shipments ratio was 1.35, down from 1.36 in October.
