DJ-BTMU U.S. Business Barometer down -1.2%
For the week ending January 31, 2009, the DJ-BTMU U.S. Business Barometer dropped by -1.2 percent mainly on a large decline in car and truck production. December auto sales plunged even further to their lowest rate since June of 1982. This signaled that automakers will have to continue to aggressively pare back production in the first half of 2009, and that is being reflected in the barometer’s decline at the start of the New Year.
