DJ-BTMU U.S. Business Barometer Down -0.5%
For the week ending December 13, 2008, the DJ-BTMU U.S. Business Barometer dropped by another -0.5 percent with broad declines across the consumer and industrial sectors of the economy. The year-over-year growth rate for the barometer is absolutely plunging, on par with a contraction not seen since the mid-1980s. The barometer last posted year-over-year growth in September 2006, proving just how far back the U.S. economy began its slowdown. Barometer results through mid-December are on par with a contraction in Q4 GDP around -4 percent.
