DJ-BTMU U.S. Business Barometer increased by 0.1%
For the week ending November 7, 2009, the DJ-BTMU U.S. Business Barometer rose +0.1 percent and was revised slightly upward to a decline of -0.1 percent in the prior week (originally reported as -0.2%). Though only half the barometer’s components made positive contributions in the latest week, two key indicators of consumer and business activity – inflation-adjusted chain store sales and railroad freight carloadings - popped up nicely. The barometer continues to point to an economic recovery that is holding on to gains in the fourth quarter.
