Weekly Initial Unemployment Claims Decrease 10,000 to 206,000
In the week ending July 20, the advance figure for seasonally adjusted initial claims was 206,000, a decrease of 10,000 from the previous week's unrevised level of 216,000. The 4-week moving average was 213,000, a decrease of 5,750 from the previous week's unrevised average of 218,750.
The advance seasonally adjusted insured unemployment rate was 1.2 percent for the week ending July 13, unchanged from the previous week's unrevised rate. The advance number for seasonally adjusted insured unemployment during the week ending July 13 was 1,676,000, a decrease of 13,000 from the previous week's revised level. The previous week's level was revised up 3,000 from 1,686,000 to 1,689,000. The 4-week moving average was 1,697,250, a decrease of 4,500 from the previous week's revised average. The previous week's average was revised up by 750 from 1,701,000 to 1,701,750.
