Chicago Purchasing Managers Index Rebounded 60.4
The Chicago Purchasing Managers reported the CHICAGO BUSINESS BAROMETER rebounded in September, marking a 24th month of expansion. The Report was characterized by significant gains in EMPLOYMENT and NEW ORDERS while ORDER BACKLOGS contracted and SUPPLIER DELIVERIES remained in a 14-month up-and-down pattern.
BUSINESS ACTIVITY:
EMPLOYMENT expanded to highest level in 4 months;
NEW ORDERS erased net declines accumulated since April;
ORDER BACKLOGS remained in contraction at a 23-month low;
SUPPLIER DELIVERIES approached neutral.
BUYING POLICY:
PRODUCTION MATERIEL moved to an 10-month high;
CAPITAL EQUIPMENT lead times ended a 4-month uptrend.
