DJ-BTMU U.S. Business Barometer up by 0.6%
For the week ending January 16, 2010, the DJ-BTMU U.S. Business Barometer increased +0.6 percent after dropping by -2.1 percent in the prior week. The barometer’s recent volatility, caused by the timing of annual auto factory shutdowns, has run its course. In addition, as we move further into the year auto production should accelerate as the improving labor market encourages pent-up demand to come forward. In the most recent week, strength was particularly concentrated in chain store sales, home buying activity, and steel production.
