DJ-BTMU U.S. Business Barometer up by 0.2%
For the week ending March 27, 2010, the DJ-BTMU U.S. Business Barometer increased by another +0.2 percent and appears to be unstoppable, rising for a sixth straight week. This week’s report closes out the first quarter and what a strong quarter it was! In the final quarter of 2009 the barometer grew by +0.5 percent, which was its first quarterly increase since mid-2006. Now, the barometer has grown by another +1.5 percent in the first quarter of 2010, which explains why many economists have already upped their growth forecasts for the full year. The production and consumption components contributed evenly to the barometer’s growth in the first quarter as opposed to the prior quarter, which was fueled solely by the industrial side of the economy and proves that the recovery has grown legs.
