Wholesale Inventories up 0.5% in October 2022

October 2022 sales of merchant wholesalers, except manufacturers’ sales branches and offices, after adjustment for seasonal variations and trading day differences but not for price changes, were $700.8 billion, up 0.4 percent (±0.5 percent)* from the revised September level and were up 11.9 percent (±0.7 percent) from the revised October 2021 level. The August 2022 to September 2022 percent change was revised from the preliminary estimate of up 0.4 percent (±0.4 percent)* to up 0.1 percent (±0.4 percent)*.
Total inventories of merchant wholesalers, except manufacturers’ sales branches and offices, after adjustment for seasonal variations and trading day differences, but not for price changes, were $923.8 billion at the end of October, up 0.5 percent (±0.4 percent) from the revised September level. Total inventories were up 21.9 percent (±0.9 percent) from the revised October 2021 level. The September 2022 to October 2022 percent change was revised from the advance estimate of up 0.8 percent (±0.4 percent) to up 0.5 percent (±0.4 percent).
The October Inventories/Sales Ratio for merchant wholesalers, except manufacturers’ sales branches and offices, based on seasonally adjusted data, was 1.32. The October 2021 ratio was 1.21.
