Wholesale Inventories up 2.5% in February 2022

February 2022 sales of merchant wholesalers, except manufacturers’ sales branches and offices, after adjustment for seasonal variations and trading day differences but not for price changes, were $675.8 billion, up 1.7 percent (±0.4 percent) from the revised January level and were up 25.5 percent (±1.1 percent) from the revised February 2021 level. The December 2021 to January 2022 percent change was revised from the Monthly Wholesale Annual Revision Report of up 4.4 percent (±0.5 percent) to up 5.0 percent (±0.5 percent).
Total inventories of merchant wholesalers, except manufacturers’ sales branches and offices, after adjustment for seasonal variations and trading day differences, but not for price changes, were $818.2 billion at the end of February, up 2.5 percent (±0.2 percent) from the revised January level. Total inventories were up 19.9 percent (±1.2 percent) from the revised February 2021 level. The January 2022 to February 2022 percent change was revised from the advance estimate of up 2.1 percent (±0.2 percent) to up 2.5 percent (±0.2 percent).
The February Inventories/Sales Ratio for merchant wholesalers, except manufacturers’ sales branches and offices, based on seasonally adjusted data, was 1.21. The February 2021 ratio was 1.27.
