DJ-BTMU U.S. Business Barometer down by 0.9%
For the week ending December 26, 2009, the DJ-BTMU U.S. Business Barometer dropped -0.9 percent, but did not fully reverse the large jump in the prior week. This week closes out the reporting year with the barometer dropping -7.9 percent in 2009, which was the largest drop since -20.6 percent in 1982. Since the barometer’s inception in 1980 this is the first time the barometer has fallen for three consecutive years, declining from 2007 through 2009. The good news here is that breaking it down by quarter shows that 2009 gained significant momentum in the back half of the year and is poised to start 2010 on a strong note.
