DJ-BTMU U.S. Business Barometer fell by 2.1%
For the week ending January 9, 2010, the DJ-BTMU U.S. Business Barometer fell -2.1 percent after rising by +1.8 percent in the prior week. The barometer’s volatility over the past few weeks is reflective of the typical distortion experienced each year when auto factory shutdowns surrounding the holiday season and New Year make weekly seasonal adjustment difficult at best. Perhaps a better representation of economic activity at the moment is the smoothed version of the barometer, which has not declined since mid-November.
